Proper basket maintenance

Here are our care tips to keep your basket in good condition not just for a long time, but for a very, very long time

Wicker baskets are naturally strong and durable. So expect yours to accompany you for many years to come. Nevertheless, to preserve its original appearance, make sure to keep it away from moisture and direct sunlight. Just like any piece of wood — a living, natural material — mould can develop on woven wicker placed in a damp environment. Sun exposure, meanwhile, tends to fade the wicker and dry it out, making it more prone to cracking.

If stains or mould appear, simply scrub the wicker basket with a small, medium-stiff brush. Use a little water, or, for more stubborn dirt, add a few drops of lemon juice or a pinch of baking soda to the water. Rinse with clean water, taking care not to soak the basket, then leave it to air-dry away from direct sunlight. (A dry day with a gentle breeze is ideal for drying your basket.)
